Mutton or Lamb Indian Curry Recipe – Urdu / English

Ingredients:

  • 500g mutton or lamb, cut into medium-sized pieces
  • 2 medium-sized onions, chopped
  • 3 medium-sized tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 green chili, sliced
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  2. Add chopped onions and green chili to the pan and cook until the onions are soft and translucent.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and cook for a minute or until fragrant.
  4. Add pureed tomatoes to the pan and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
  5. Add coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and cumin powder to the pan and mix well.
  6. Add the mutton or lamb pieces to the pan and mix well with the spice mixture.
  7. Add salt and water to the pan, cover it with a lid, and let it simmer for 30-40 minutes or until the meat is cooked through. Stir occasionally.
  8. Once the meat is cooked, turn off the heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  9. Serve the mutton or lamb curry hot with boiled rice and your favorite chutney.
