Famous Indian Fish Curry Recipe – Urdu / English

Ingredients:

  • 500g fish fillets (any firm white fish)
  • 2 medium sized onions, chopped
  • 2 large tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook until they are soft and golden brown.
  3. Add minced garlic and grated ginger and cook for another minute.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy.
  5. Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt to taste. Cook for a minute or two.
  6. Add the fish fillets to the pan and carefully mix with the spice mixture.
  7. Pour in 1/2 cup of water, cover the pan with a lid and cook for about 10-15 minutes or until the fish is fully cooked.
  8. Serve hot with boiled rice or roti, garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
