Desi Style Pav Bhaji Recipe Urdu / English

Ingredients:

  • 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1 medium capsicum, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • 8-10 pav (Indian buns)
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  2. Add onion, garlic, and ginger paste. Cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the chopped tomato, capsicum, and all the spices. Cook for 5-6 minutes or until the tomato has softened.
  4. Add the mashed potatoes and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add 1-2 cups of water to make a thick, creamy consistency. Season with salt to taste.
  6. In another pan, heat butter and gently toast the pav until they are golden brown.
  7. Serve the bhaji in a large serving bowl, garnished with fresh coriander leaves. Serve with the toasted pav, lemon wedges, and a dollop of butter.
